After I moved from the US to France, I travelled back and forth several times, but each 13 hour trip became progressively more difficult. Last year, I celebrated my 80th birthday in Rome--less of a distance to fly, even with a flight change in Paris. Still airtravel is exhausting--did I ever find it fun, I can't recall.

Last month, I took the train from Montpellier to Madrid, Spain where I met up with my daughter and son-in-law. They hired a car and we spent two weeks touring northwestern Spain. That's probably my kind of travel these days.

At 68, I started a new chapter in my life: I moved to France. Alone. It turned out to be quite the page-turner. Still is — even when age insists on a part.
