Enjoyable story. I didn't know until I moved to France that pharmacists are required to be able to recognise mushrooms--specifically poisonous ones. A friend took a giant mushroom into the pharmacy for identification and everyone gathered around and began sharing recipes, a very French experience.

I've found also that mushroom hunters tend to be quite secretive about the best spots.
