Great article, Gary. I was angry on your behalf by the comment you received. Like you, I'm 79 and still changing, learning, etc. And I also write about ageist attitudes.

But reading your piece, and the reason I used your quote above, is that however upbeat I might be, I can fall into an ageist attitude towards myself--anticipating certain setbacks, being overly critical, I could go on.

In addition to fighting ageist attitudes by others, I will start working harder on myself. Thanks for the eye opener.
