Hi Jill, I’m sorry it’s taking me so long to finish this, I still have a little more to read—not because it’s not holding my interest, it is, just a lot of competing issues.
My overall feeling, and perhaps my reservation on what I’ve read is that Hannah’s voice seems more that of an adult than a fifteen year old girl. I realise that she’s fiercely intelligent and precocious, so perhaps that’s why. But her vocabulary, sensibilities, perspective is wise far beyond her years. For that reason, I think the appeal is probably not to a young adult audience.
That said, there’s a lot of wisdom that would be of value at any age. And, I should add, set forth in an entertaining and interesting way.
