I wish you and your wife the very best. Financial issues added to the psychological trauma of diagnosis and treatment are horrible burdens to endure.

Reading your piece though, I'm so glad I decided to move to France--especially after two joint replacement surgeries in the past two years, neither of which posed any financial concerns thanks to the French health care system. I've never entertained moving back to the States, but I couldn't afford to even if that's what I wanted.
