I'm glad I read your piece, Shanti. I was feeling, and still am, pretty demoralised at a sudden and inexplicable drop in earnings. Nothing new, I know it happens, but since it's impossible to understand what's going on, the tendency is to take it personally.

I agree with all you've said about the community and support on Medium, that definitely makes it worthwhile. But even if money isn't an issue (and for me it is) lower earnings also mean that fewer people will have had the chance to read a story (it's less widely distributed) so it really comes down to more than just money.

I feel better after reading this--perhaps not quite such a lone voice in the wilderness.
