I’m Thrilled — And Very Surprised, A Medium First For Me
I mostly write about France & getting older, but sometimes I have a rant or two about political insanity and the fatal attraction to fossil fuel.
Yet another day in which I’m not writing the story I intended. Yesterday I got sidetracked when the woman who will probably be Britain’s new prime minister said she would consider scrapping speed limits. Head banging time — just as it was a few days earlier when the same woman said she would push for more North Sea oil drilling.
I felt compelled to express my thoughts. To have a little rant about the Fossil Fuel Monster’s stranglehold on politicians. To lament the lure of filthy lucre.
But this isn’t a rant. Just the opposite. As I started writing this morning, I felt the irresistible urge to check e-mails — sometimes, it’s the irresistible urge to check the refrigerator, or water the tomatoes. Amazing how irresistible urges to do something else coincide with starting to write.
