Interesting story, Cindy. I've read most of the books you mentioned--they're either on my book shelf, or in my Kindle. Structure, finding the right voice to tell the story, tense, lessons learned are all part of the mix in putting everything together. I've written fiction and tried to apply some of the structure, but the process is incredibly difficult. My memoir remains in draft form after working on it on and off for several years.
