I've been asked all those questions at various times. The one I find most difficult is the one about I can live so far from my family--there's no easy answer to that, there's often a bit of guilt on my part which perhaps is why questions like that sometimes feel judgemental. Really I think we, ex-pats, have reasons as varied as we are ourselves. And, I know, people asking those questions are sometimes just genuinely curious.
