I've had errors pointed out. The difference with Medium--compared to large publications with editors responsible for correcting errors and improving style--is that Medium writers are responsible for their own editing. I use Grammarly and do my best to create a decent piece of writing, but I'm well aware that a professional editor would find numerous ways to improve upon my work . . . and also to spot things I've missed.

A story I just wrote this morning, for instance, described a 90-hour ferry ride. My eagle eyed partner back in France spotted it and I changed it to 90-minutes, but not before it had already been e-mailed and read a few times. No-one else has mentioned the time error yet, but I'm sure there is someone out there . . .

At 68, I started a new chapter in my life: I moved to France. Alone. It turned out to be quite the page-turner. Still is — even when age insists on a part.
