I've lived in France for the past nine years and have read Macron's speech/comments on the 'end of abundance.' It's been greeted here with a mixed response. In Le Monde this morning, an opinion piece that Macron needed to do more than just proclaim the end of abundance. Radical action is needed.

Agreed, but, the French government's work to address existing global catastrophes and those looming over the horizon is vastly more reassuring than those just across the channel where the woman likely to succeed Boris Johnson as the next PM has just announced that, if chosen, she will call for more North Sea Oil drilling and scrap Net Zero targets. Climate change apparently stops at Britain's borders.

Head banging time, as I wrote yesterday. https://medium.com/the-authentic-eclectic/its-head-banging-time-again-75e19c0ff40a

At 68, I started a new chapter in my life: I moved to France. Alone. It turned out to be quite the page-turner. Still is — even when age insists on a part.
