LIVING IN FRANCE: I NEEDED MOTIVATION TO WRITE…Could I Just Capture the Small Daily Moments?

I knew very little about Medium when I joined last November. I’d mostly encountered it through Google searches for one thing or another. I was working on a memoir at the time — I still am — but it had been a discouraging year for writing progress. A couple of book rejections, submitted articles to various publications that went nowhere.

I found no joy in sitting down to write. I spent hours Googling terms like procrastination and motivation. Then on Critique Circle, a writing board I sometimes contribute to, I read a post about making money on Medium; apparently, it was possible. Nice, but that was of less interest than just feeling more motivated to write.

I decided to write and post something every day. Since I’d also read that no one was likely to read these early efforts on Medium, I felt pretty free to write whatever I felt like writing.

I wrote the following entry on Day Two of my experiment.
