My original title was a clunker, even though I'd put it through a headline analyser where it scored well, but the Arc's always terrific editors (can I name names?) suggested a rework and, voila, I'm thrilled that the piece received a boost.

Much has been written about how stories get boosted, but in my experience, submitting to the Arc definitely offers an advantage and is a tribute to the hard work of Deb and her team of editors.

As always, my gratitude for the work you do and thanks for the shoutout.

At 68, I started a new chapter in my life: I moved to France. Alone. It turned out to be quite the page-turner. Still is — even when age insists on a part.
