Thanks, Sara. I'm a UK citizen, even though I lived in the US for years. I came to France before Beexit when the UK was part of the EU. We didn't need visas. Now, because of Brexit, Brits have to have a Carte de Sejour--a residency card. I think that would apply to US citizens too.
