The biggest challenge for me after I voluntarily resigned from a US corporate PR position (I was in my early 50's, but thought of it as early retirement) was coping with what felt like a loss of identity. Who was I without the title and position?

It took a while, but I was ultimately able to see myself in a different way. Struggling writer didn't quite have the caché of my old identity, but I never regretted the change.
