There’s an inevitability about the news coverage following masa shootings. Shock and horror and then the comments from residents of towns and neighborhoods along the lines of, « We know it happens in other places, we never thought it would happen here. »

Then the prayers and condolences from politicians who have absolutely no interest in ensuring it never happens again.

And on and on it goes.
