Very enjoyable piece. I've lived in rural France for ten years, a grape-growing region. Life is dormant in the winter, much like the vines. It could get boring, I don't find it so, but I'm older.

Twenty years ago, I might have yearned for Montpellier, about 45 minutes away, where we sometimes go for a big city day out. I'm glad to return to the village though.

Do you think you'll stay in France?

At 68, I started a new chapter in my life: I moved to France. Alone. It turned out to be quite the page-turner. Still is — even when age insists on a part.
