What an ordeal, but also what an interesting story. Having experienced medical care in the US where I lived for many years, here in France where I've lived for nine years and once on a visit to Portugal, I too question the bells and whistles that help to drive up the cost of US health care. Perfectly adequate basic care here in Europe sans the TVs and tasteful decor. Thanks for a great read.
