What Will We Do In Rome Today?

It all depends on the weather & health

The best laid plans are made (at least for today)as we eat breakfast while studying maps of Rome and glancing outside to check on the weather. Kit developed a horrible cold and hacking cough during her cruise and it seemed unwise to do more wet weather walking. And, really, when does a cold ever make you feel like getting soaking wet?

So we plot and plan and watch the sky. Clouds and rain, then a hopeful patch of blue sky, then a downpour. As I write this, thunder rumbles as if in warning.

“You heard that, right? Kit asks from across the table.

I glance out at the teaming rain and laugh. “Yep.”

“It’s pretty comical, really,” she says.

I suppose that’s a good way of looking at it. Earlier, in a spirit of optimism, we’d hung damp bath towels outside to dry.
