Yesterday my elderly (my age!) neighbour had a strange spell in which she spoke gibberish and seemed completely unaware of her surroundings. Since she has heart problems and had a stroke a few years ago, I called an ambulance. By the time it arrived, her speech had returned to normal and she seemed fine. Given her medical history, they took her to the hospital anyway,

Later, I typed a more detailed description of her symptoms into Chat GPT and got a response that the symptoms could be indicative of Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), sometimes referred to as a "mini-stroke." The advice was to seek immediate medical treatment, which we did.

She's waiting for test results so I don't yet know how accurate this might be--but it took far less time than Dr. Google, who I've also consulted on occasion, and the response was quite lengthy and informative.

At 68, I started a new chapter in my life: I moved to France. Alone. It turned out to be quite the page-turner. Still is — even when age insists on a part.
